Same Weekend - More Parties
Where did I leave off? Oh yea... sleeping. That was a good time. Jeff came downstairs and woke us up around 1:30pm. We needed to grab some quick showers, and some food. The Dutch played Sweden at 2:45. Jeff's roomate, Rutger, provided us with some orange gear. We grabbed some food and a local restuarant, and drove to the Golden Rail.
The pub charged us $20 a head to watch the game, but it was well worth it. Everyone in our group was wearing Orange, and even some native dutchman showed up besides Rutger! The game was a nail bitter, the Grolsch flowed by the pitcher to calm nerves. Poor Rutger was loosing it when the game went into overtime, then PKs, then extra PKs. Finally, the Dutch goalkeeper scored the winning goal. We went crazy in the bar. It was such a good time. I believe the Dutch should have one the game, but much sooner. They couldn't finish the ball
After the game, I quickly made my way down the east coast for Denby and Jason's engagement party. It only took about three hours to go from the NB to Annapolis. I guess late on a Saturday afternoon is a good time to travel the Northeast Corridor. I arrived at the party a little late, but everything was in full swing. The theme was Jimmy Buffet, and the Chews had erected a full bar on their deck. It was covered in palms and looked fantastic! All over the yard were tiki torches and places to sit.
I hung out with Sarah and her boyfriend Preston, Gotz, Matt, Megan, Pete, Heidi, and others. The food was amazing! Bunny out did herself. I really loved the pulled jerk chicken and the cream cheese salomi wrapped thingys. Denby introduced the dessert with a chant, "We Are Penn State!" Jason was beside himself. I think he peed his pants.
Many times throughout the night Denby was crying. Especially, when her father gave a toast. She looked very pretty in her blue green dress. I am very happy for Her and Jason, and I can't wait for the wedding! After the party, I went to sleep at my new house.
The next day, Pete and I ordered the Czech vs. Denmark game. The Czech's one in convincing fashion with some late 2nd half goals. We then fought the random I-97 traffic up to bmore. It was Scott's Birthday! The destination was the Hyatt on Light Street. They just started having sunday parties by the 6th floor pool. The music was house, and the drinks were frozen. Pete, Heidi, Scott, Joanne, and I enjoyed ourselves by the pool. It was very relaxing. As the sun started to go down, we traveled back over to Fell's for some pool and wings at Kislings. We shot a few games, and killed 50 wings! I was so full. Kislings wings are so good. We all had a fanatastic time celebrating Scott's birthday.
I drove home, and slept for 10 hours. I love the fact I don't have to be at work till 930am. This week at work was really cool. I had a chance to really start changing some of the sites and building a mini-application. I'm doing well, and my boss is happy with my work. It's a great situation. Right now, I am about to go pick Dave up at DCA. At 7am tomorrow we are off to Vancouver and Anchorage. No Scandanavian Adventure this year, but these places should be sweet. I can't wait to see Tony, and Vancouver is suppose to be beautiful! Look for a team bloggin effort over the next 10 days from Me and Dave! Ill see ya'all next from the youngest and largest state - Alaska!
