I Had Every Intention
Sunday was going to be the day. Friday night, I successfully installed Red Hat 9 and Windows 2000 on two of my computers. Basically, the three desktops I have in my home office are clean and clear machines waiting for new programs. Each will have it's own task. The G5 will store digital media and do production. My win2k machine will act as a digital audio work station, burning setup, and live show archive. Of course, the linux box will host all sites in development. Yea, I am a dork. Anyway, today I was going to setup all the boxes. I'm itching to start some freelance projects. Right as I started to get going, Matt walked into the office. He said it was fantastic outside, and wanted to know if I was going out on the boat. Well, I wanted to get this stuff done, but I walked outside real quick. Hands down, it was one of the top five days of this summer. I was not about to waste it in front of a computer. I was off to Jabin's in a hot second.
Rich, Matt and I had to stop by Denby's real quick to met Megan and grab some supplies. Jason and Denby were already down at Jabin's getting the Donzi out of the botel and into the water. Once we arrived, at Jabin's the boat was already in the water. Denby has kept her Donzi back there on Back Creek for a few years. It works out really well. For the price of a slip, you can keep your boat out of water under cover. The yacht yard guys will pull it down with a gigantic fork left whenever you need it.
We loaded up the boat with food, beer, towles, sun block, and a camera to cruise out of the creek. The wind was kicking so, we decided to stay in the Severn. Denby was at the helm and took north under the two bridges past the Academy. It was really bumpy around the bridges. I guess this is because; there is so much traffic in such a small area. We were able to really open up the boat around Sherwood Forest. Again, it was so beautiful. The sky only had a few wispy clouds. The breeze was blowing and it was in the 80s. The Severn was packed with boats, and we were waving to everyone. It was going to be a good afternoon.
While starring at the multi-million dollar homes, we looked for a good place to anchor off. Denby suggested Little Round Bay which is a good call at anytime. We actually first tried a spot outside Hopkins Cove, but it was full of seaweed. It was annoying because; Denby made the call to leave that spot once I got the anchor caught. No Matter. Rich guided the boat over into Little Round Bay. This time, we had some trouble dropping anchor, but Matt got in the water to help catch it. We were set for the afternoon. (map of area where we went)
Everyone changed into bathing suits and grabbed tubes. I put my feet in the water while Denby jumped in to join Matt. Megan got out sandwiches together, and Jason broke out more beer for our empty cozies. The felt great. It is really clean and clear with no jelly fish. The rainy summer has kept them away. I went back to the cabin to grab my camera. I burned my last picture from the Jersey weekend on everyone in the water. Should be a good one. I took the opportunity to jump below and switch on RNR. What else do you need on a lazy Annapolis afternoon out on the water then the best radio station ever? Not really anything if you ask me.
We proceeded to do nothing for the next 3 or so hours. There were a number of different boats anchored around us. Everyone was swimming, playing, sunning, and eating. You gotta love the water culture. Every once and awhile, I get those moments were I step back in my mind, survey the situation, and realize I'm really happy. You know what I am talking about? I got one of those today. It's such a cool thing.
After we had enough of the sun, I pulled up the anchor and Rich took us back to Jabin's. We could have stayed out longer, but Denby and Jason had a date with her dad to go out fishing on bay. I was getting burned out from the sun so, I was happy travel back. Not sun burned, just tired from the day. After the large fork lift put away Den's boat, we reconvened back at my house.
It was dinner time, and everyone was hungry. Rich, Matt, and Meg ordered a pizza, and I ate some leftovers. I'm really trying to loose the grandma weight. The Simpson's was on for awhile, then they tried to play Madden. I was like, this is ridiculous. The best day ever is still kicking. We should go downtown to get some ice cream. Everyone was down with that so, we jumped in the car.
Downtown was jumping with all kinds of people. Everyone was out and about. Mainly with the same idea as us. There was a fifteen minute wait at Storm Brothers, but well worth it. Their ice cream is super. I ordered a double scoop of Coconut Chocolate Almond in a waffle cone. Heaven in my mouth. It was vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips, coconut, and almonds. Damn Good. We enjoyed our dessert out by Ego Alley to take in some people watching, a favorite past time of mine.
After we ate all the ice cream up, we went back home for a lazy evening on the couch. What a perfect day. I even got some sun!!!! I wish I could be outside everyday like I was during school. Silly job locking me away in a whole everyday. Oh well, I guess that is how it is when your an old working men. We just have relish the days we can get.
