New Music For The End Of August

I have rediscovered the joys of downloading music at work. I am comfortable enough with my duties to take the few extra minutes out of the day to grab some new music. Yay for iTunes Music Store and Bit Torrent. My iTunes at work is now a healthy few gigs full. I'll give y'all a quick rundown of my favorites.

Eric Clapton - Me and Mr. Johnson
This amazing blues record was a pet project of Slowhand. The record label was hesitant to put out an all cover straight blues record, but it has sold very well. The songs covered were originally written by Robert Johnson. He is a well respected Mississippi Delta Blues man that is known for his creative songs. A long time hero of Clapton, I bet the songs were a joy to record. It really shows in the music. If you like to stomp your foot to some great blues, get this record.

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
A straight rock, fun album by a group from Scotland. I enjoy the simple lyrics and chord progression. Can't wait to check them out at the Electric Factory in a few weeks. If you're into the new wave of alternative music, you will love these guys.

The O.C. - The Enhanced Soundtrack
A peer to peer jem that can only be found at your favorite Bit Torrent site, I love this album. I am a sucker for the O.C., and I have to say they do an excellent job of picking tracks. I read somewhere that the producers picked the music because; they listen to it. What a novel idea? Pick good music you like to listen to for a show. Anyone else looking forward to the new season in November???

Groove Armada - Lovebox
These guys rock!!! I love their crazy off the wall style of pulling tracks from everywhere and making it work. This is the type of genre bending cd you love to dance to, yet it can melow you out with a few key tracks. Think Future Sound of London with more pizzazz.

Belle and Sebastian - Books EP
Hmm, I am not sure about this one. Good music, no question, but I don't know if I like it. It might be too slow? Maybe to alternative for me? I'll have to get some more tracks and see. They are the same vein as Franz Ferdinand but smarter musically.
