Sake and Me, We Don't Get Along

Sarah came into town this weekend to check out my new abode. She had been excited to come to Annapolis. She really had never seen the town. Coming in for a show at the Ram's Head really doesn't count.

She found North Homeland without a problem. I gave her the grand tour, and she was pleased. She had the normal reaction to my room - it is too bright. I love my orange room. We had a few beverages, and drove downtown for dinner. Ritchie even decided to join us.

Earlier in the week, I had suggested Joss. I have been eating so much Sushi since Vancouver. Ritchie had lunch there last week. He highly reccomended the place. Sarah was up for it. Appearently, she loves Sushi as well.

Joss does not take reservations so, we put our name in for a reasonable 30 minute wait. It is located right on Main Street in Downtown so, we walked into a Irish Pub to pass the time. It wasn't long until we were back and seated in on the front tables facing the street.

For drinks, Ritch and I knocked back a few Kirin Ichiban. We even tried a Sake sampler. The four different kinds looked clear to cloudy. They all tasted like a combination of liqour and wine. I didn't like any. I was glad we didn't order a bottle.

I started out with a Smoked Salmon Seaweed Salad. It came with a creamy wasabi dressing. I keep on saying, "A Smoked Salmon Seaweed Salad Sounds Super." What a dork I am. I'll tell you what, it was super. I can't remeber the last time I so enjoyed a salad.

We ordered a few different types of Sushi for the main course. First to grace the table was the Spicy Roll Combination. It included Spicy California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll & Dynamite Roll (24 Pieces). Tasty but it was hard eat with chopsticks. We had a few other selections including, Escolar, Toro (Fatty Tuna), Unagi (Eel), and Sake (Salmon). I really enjoyed the spicy sushi and the unagi the most.

I will remeber dessert forever. Oh my goodness, desert was amazing. We ordered a piece of chocolate pie, Grilled Bananas (Grilled & topped with honey & pralines, served a la mode), and Tempura Fried Bananas (Fried & topped with honey & pralines served a la mode). The Tempura Fried Bananas tastly like heaven in my mouth. The grilled bananas tied with the ritch and creamy cake. It was all so tasty. If you are in the Annapolis area, go to Joss.

After gorging ourselves, we tried to hit up some bars. It was hard to get going. My stomach was full, and bed sounded like a good idea. I think the three of us kept each other going. Our first stop was McGarvey's. We sat in the side room with the trees. The converstation was sporadic, but we persevered. Once the juices began to flow, we walked down to Armadillo's. The place was packed, but we shared a table with some random girls. I forgot to show Sarah the water line from Isabel!!! Oh well, maybe next time. We almost called it a night, but Ritchie had an excellent point. It is not an Annapolis trip without stopping by Pusser's for a Famous Pain Killer made with Pusser's Rum.

We walked across the city dock to the Marriott. Of course, the dock bar was packed. Then it began, another random AACS reunion. I saw Erin Comb, Joey Foundas, Jeff Cross, and a few others. It was wacky. I am glad we made it that far, and I think Sarah had a great time!!!

We went back to Homeland and promptly feel asleep. I think Sarah had a really good time, and she is itching to come back. Maybe we can do the Jar Flys on a Tuesday? Anyway, it just goes to show ya. Most people have a wonderful time once they make it out here.
