Wherrrreeee'sss The Beach????
Sunday, Anna woke me up shortly after 8am. Wow it was early, but she was headed back to Delaware. At least she didn't jump around and talk to us like Gina did on Saturday morning. It didn't matter, I fell quickly back to sleep. Everyone began to arise around 11am. It felt like 4 in the afternoon. I was suprised that I was feeling allright, but it was still cloudy outside the window.
I was really hoping that the day would clear. It would be nice to go on the beach while we were at the beach. This did not happen. The day continued to remain cloudy. We did sit out on the deck for a few hours. The decision was made to check out the Carousel. We heard a rumor the Springfield was going to be sold so, we needed to visit the Carousel one last time just incase it closed. I love this outdoor bar right on the boardwalk. We spent many a happy hour there in the summer of 2001. We did live on 44th street just a few blocks from the Carousel.
Unfortunately, this day was not one to remeber. There was no sunshine, no Jammer and Jen, and no large groups of people. We each had a rum runner or two. We even ordered some food. They had good chicken fingers. Sadly, the story from the bar was the U.S. Olympic basketball teams loosing effort to Puerto Rico. Don't we own Puerto Rico???
The best part of the afternoon was something so funny, I bet I won't be able to describe it properly. Jeff, Rob, Mark, and I are just sitting at a table when this guy gets up from the bar. He looked to be in his 40s. He was unshaven in a t-shirt and jean shorts. He kinda stumbled forward and shoulder checked a support that held up the bar. He said, "Wherrrreeesssss the beacccchhh???" I thought the guy was joking, but he wasn't. This guy was plowed out of his mind. He mumbled some other stuff, and we laughed with him. Then a guy from the bar came up and asked him to leave. He was the topic of conversation for the next ten minutes. We watched him walk up the boardwalk and try to get on the beach. He held a five minute conversation with the beach tagger and stumbled on to the beach. I got up and took a picture of him. When we got up to leave, we went to talk to the beach tagger. The guy said he had a beach tag and wandered out toward the water. We couldn't see him. He was probably passed out face down in the sand. It was the funniest thing ever.
Back at the condo, we watched some of the Olympics. I was waiting for Gina to get back from a game of miniature golf. I guess we left around 4pm? The plan was to be back in Annapolis by 7pm for some dinner. We tried to make it home without an error, and we succeeded. We even figured out a new way that keeps you on US-55 for longer. It makes the trip feel shorter. Plus, We stopped for fruit and veggies. Good Stuff. The only disappointing part was the sun began to come out once got to 95. Isn't always that way?
I have to say thank you to a bunch of people for such a great weekend. First of all, thanks thanks thanks to Gina, Anna, Heather, Pam, Katie and others for letting us four morons sleep at your house. I hope y'all have us back in the future. We'll promise to not lick anyone. Second, thanks to Sean and Mike for setting up the open bar. I am not going to lie, a booze cruise would have been better. Who can predict nature???? We'll just have to try again next year. To everyone else, l***m*b****. :P
