Better Than A Dentist Appointment

Friday afternoon, I had a dentist appointment. It was scheduled for 230pm. It was a good time to have the appointment. By the time it was finished, it was too late to go back to work but early enough to drive to Philadelphia. I didn't even plan it. The dentist had called early in the week to reschedule. Lucky me.
Jeff purchased me a ticket to a Franz Ferdinand show at the Electric Factory last month. Now, I did not have to worry about being late.

The dentist visit wasn't bad. The doctor did a better job then the last girl who filled one of my cavities. He even decided that the last girl was wrong. I didn't need anymore fillings. Soon, I was on the road battling the northeast corridor. The ride wasn't too bad, and I made it to Philly around 6pm.

Jeff was already at Mark's and Rob's. Sean was down the shore for the last weekend. I showed them some pictures from the Booze Cruise weekend, and we watched some TV. We did not want to go out to early, but we did plan on stopping by Grape Street for some drinks.

Somehow, I was elected to drive for the evening, and I had trouble getting to Grape Street. Mainly because; I had no idea it was now located at Chemistry's old location. Now the fight the morons got into last month made more sense. I found a close spot on the street, and we went to the back patio.

Funny it was. We walked right into some Villanova alumni party. "No, I don't want to buy raffel tickets for Villanova gear." It was o.k. Matty showed up a few minutes later, and we chatted about going to Carnival. After a few drinks, Jeff, Mark, and I left for the Electric Factory. Matt and Rob stayed in Manyunk.

Everyone was excited for the show. The venue was sold out, and it was suprising they just skipped the TLA. They last played Shampoo in Philadelphia. We grabbed a few PBRs, and watched the show from the downstairs bar area.

I never saw a show from this viewpoint. It was nice because; we were closer to the stage. On the other hand, the sound was not that great. The show itself was about what I expected. The band was really good at what they do and that is play straight forward rock. The songs were a lot of fun, and the crowd was really into it. They didn't play their radio song last and had great stage presence. I couldn't find a setlist so, maybe someone can help me out with the song titles?

My only compliant was the lenght of the show. It must have clocked in just around an hour and fifteen minutes? I would have liked to see them play a few more songs. They really interacted well with the crowd. On the flipside, we had plenty of time to go out in Old City. Our destination, Drinkers.

We found great street parking just across from the Betsy Ross House. This is also just down the street from the new Real World house. Enough of the parking spot, lets talk about the bar.

Of course, Drinkers was packed with decent people looking to enjoy themselves. It wasn't packed with over dressed haughty taughty types. There was one thing new, 40s of High Life! How can you not order a 40 at a bar? I did. I believe that is the first. The guys objected, but you can't say no.

We looked around for some girls, and I thought I saw one looking our way. I went over to talk. After about five minutes, she said something to the effect of, "This is my boyfriend." Oh well, I walked back over to my moron friends. Oh yea, Rob had rejoined the party. I saw from a few steps away that they were covered in liquid. Appearently, Rob dropped a full forty on the ground, and it sprayed all over him, Jeff, and Mark. Hahaha. Again, Morons. At least, I was getting turned down so, I was still dry.

I guess we can count our blessings that we did not get kicked out, but we decided to finish up at Molly's on 3rd Street. Last weekend, Mark, Rob, and Jeff found this place. They made friends with the bar tenders, and they wanted to go back to say hello. I was all for it. The place was nice and small, and the service was great. We had a good time talking to the bartenders and others, but we soon called it a night.

It was lots of fun bouncing around Philadelphia. It really is a cool city. I like visiting there and seeing my friends. I am not sure I would move back, but I still enjoy everything it has to offer. I guess ill be making my bi-monthly/monthly journey up within the coming weeks.
