Half Way Through The Run
Eric and I woke up around 9am. The tent was starting to get hot from the sun. The nights sleep was comfortable at least for me. I had an air matress. It was nice to take a shower in the bathhouse even though the water was kind of cold. I ate a peach for breakfest while others cooked up some food. It was cool to meet everyone, but we had to be on our way to catch up with the crew over at Feathers.
Feathers was sort of easy to find. It is a rock formation off of Vantage road back over by The Gorge. This rock formation looked like feathers protruding from the ground. Appearently, you need a permit to camp out in these parts, but most people just pitched a tent where they could. There were people camped out on both sides of the rock formation. Eric and I were alittle apprehensive to walk from site to site looking for our friends. We decided to drive around some more and snap some photos. Vantage Road ran along the Columbia River, and I believe I got some great shots. Eventually, we decided to just pull back into the Feathers camp spot and park.
After finding a nice spot, we broke out the grill and began to cook lunch. I cooked up some nice cheese burgers, and we relaxed in the 70 degree weather with fantastic views for miles. Up the hill from our site, three kids were chilling. I heard the girl say, "I hope I find a ticket for tonight." I had an extra so, I walked up to say hi. She decided to take my extra, and we chilled with them for the afternoon. We didn't get a chance to find our friends. After the fact, we found out they went to a state park for the day. It was cool. These kids were from Seattle, and they came out for just the night. We knocked back beers and listened to music all afternoon.
Around 3pm, Eric and I decided to camp out there for the night. We ran back to Vantage to pack up before John arrived. He was driving out to met us for the rest of the weekend. I felt bad to ditch our kind Vantage friends. They were jamming to Particle when we got back to the site. It would have been amazing to stay, but Feathers was calling our name. Plus, it was so windy back at the river. I have to thank Jason and group for salvaging our tent from the wind! It was easy to pack up, and we went back to Feathers.
Shortly after setting up the tent, John arrived in his C5 Vette. I felt bad he had to drive it all the way out. Damn Microsoft XBox people keeping him late on a Friday of a holiday weekend. We chilled at our new spot for a few more hours, but went over the venue around 5pm. The wind had been picking up something fierce all afternoon.
It only took about ten minutes to find a parking spot at the venue. We were pretty lucky to meet up with Mike, Ben, Joe, and Mike's brother on Vantage road. Along with our friends from Seattle, our three cars parked right next to each other in the grass. Eric quickly got out the grill, and he started to grill the fish. The beer began to flow while the sun set over the mountians in the background. Could you ask for a better Saturday night?
The fish was amazing. I would have to say they swordfish was the tastiest. The halibut a close second with the salmon bringing up a respectable rear. We had a great time striking up intellectual and crappy conversation. We even had a random girl join our party who was hot! Of course, none of us dorks capitalized on the situation. Before long, we traversed into the venue. I had fortieth row seats for the even which might as well be lawn so, I sat on the lawn.
Why would you sit on the lawn Simeon? Well, everyone in the Warehouse got hosed for the second night so, we planned a lawn party. It was a good thing. The venue is so beautiful, there is not a bad seat in the house. It was so cool to watch the sunset while the music played. During the set, we even saw the moon rise in the north. The best part was being able to see constellations like the Big Dipper from the lawn! Check out the setlist before I describe the evening.

I called the opener, The Stone. It was really cool. It is one of the songs I don't love, but it slams live. Best Of Whats Around is always super. It is such a happy go lucky song with a jam you have to love. Other songs I enjoyed from this night include, Song That Jane Likes, Lie In Our Graves, and Typical Situation.
First, I will say some of the radio songs suck. I believe till this day that I Did It is a satire. It is the single for Everyday. They 'did it' because; The Lillywhite Sessions (Producer Steve Lillywhite) was released on the Internet before this album was released. DMB 'did it' by giving the fans a real album while giving RCA got their studio album. Anyway, the radio songs sucked, but I spent the time lying down staring at the stars. It was so much fun. I hadn't sat out on the lawn in years. It was so relaxing, I even feel asleep for Everyday.
Back to the good stuff. You can't go wrong when Dave steps up to the mic and says, "I have sister, and this is the Song That Jane Likes." The song has such a powerful intro jam. Lie In Our Graves was slamming. Boyd always goes to town on the only DMB song I can play on the guitar. Typical Situation was quite, but such a treat. The lyrics are so moving. To wrap it up, our lawn party was not only fun, but a great decision.
We chilled in the parking lot for about a half an hour after show. It was an eazy drive back to Feathers to sleep. Our friends from Seattle were already back. We grilled up some more food, and conversated for awhile. You could even see more of the stars from out there. I was in awe of the beauty Easter Washington had to offer. I guess we crawled into the tent around 3am. The best part was we had a few hours to sleep till it all happened for the third night.
