Opening Party
Rich and I have lived out here in Annapolis for a few months. The house could still use some sprucing up. I'd say we are doing allright for two bachelors. The one thing that had been missing was a house warming party. Well, we took care of that problem last Friday night.
I had been trying to talk a few friends from Philadelphia into an Annapolis weekend for quite some time. Finally, the summer began to wind down, and a few people had an open weekend to stop by my new house. Gina had been planning the same type weekend for her friends so, we set the date for this past weekend. On top of that, Eric was planning to visit our little town. Besides these three pieces of the puzzle, Rich and I told as many of our friends as possible about the weekend. It all came to fruition on Friday.
I'll have to say, I was somewhat nervous. I didn't know if everyone would find the house. I had purchased food to prepare. I cleaned up the house just a bit. My phone was broken. I guess, I was hoping everyone would enjoy themselves. Eric and Rich helped out a ton. Including, grabbing a large cooler of beer.
Everyone started to stop by after 7pm. In order to kill time after work, I ordered Underworld from On Demand. By the way, On Demand rules. The movie was fun - a vampire vs. warewolf flick. It was longer then I expected. Denby, Jason, and Jeff showed up right as it ended. I still needed to grab a shower, and put the food out in the kitchen.
The food wasn't much so, don't assume I am completely domesticated. I picked up sandwiches, fruit, and potato salad from Giant. Again, Eric and Rich helped out with the beer. It was a load off my back once everything was ready, and I even had music in the stereo. Then, everyone started to show up. Here is the list... McCartan, Herczeg, Jeff, Denby, Jason, Eric, Kevin, Jen, Allison, Gina, Anna, Kikki, Kristina, and Michelle. Am I leaving anyone out?!?!
I think most people had seen the house except for the Philly kids. Herczeg, Jeff, and Matt couldn't believe how orange my room was, but it still is the greatest room ever. They liked the house, and made fun of me for my bigger and better "nerd closet." Anna, Kristina, Michelle, and Kikki had not seen the house either. I gave them a tour, and I think they liked it. At one point, all three were admiring my room. I think I did alright when the girls like it.
We spent a few hours socializing in the basement. I had a chance to fumble through introductions. I am so horrible with names. It's very embarrassing. I was happy to see everyone getting along, and we stayed until the cooler was empty. The plan was to see what downtown had to offer. It was a shame, another hurricane was traveling past Annapolis. It was too rainy to walk from bar to bar. We decided upon O'Briens.
It is always a safe bet for a big crowd and a good time. We gathered around the back bar, and a few people ventured onto the dance floor. I had a fantastic time talking to Kristina, Michelle, Kikki, Denby, Kevin, Jen, well the whole list. It was such a great night! I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did. We closed the place down. I found myself back at the house hooking up air mattresses for the Philly Kids. We needed some sleep. The next day was kegs and eggs at the Ram's Head.
I'll have to say a big thank you to everyone who came. Rich and I really appreciate it. I'm pretty sure the night went off without a hitch. This is a very good thing. I am already planning the next party. I'll give out a couple hints - end of October and Orange. Too all that could not make it this time, we really missed you. Feel free to stop by whenever we are around. We like to think were always trying to have a good time.

We were about to connect -- but then I saw your crappy-ass phone, and I knew I shouldn't bother with you.
You look mighty cute in them khaki pants today.
