La Salle Homecoming 2004

Robesch and I left Manyunk before noon for La Salle Homecoming 2004. I wasn't sure what to expect. This year was going to be different from last for a few reasons. First, the Official La Salle Tailgate was to be held by the Haymen Center instead of South Campus. Second, the real party was at the Rugby Field instead of Bellfield. The school had asked Philadelphia Policeman to stakeout the field for whatever reason they thought was necessary. What a great way to alienate alumni.

The Offical Party was OK. It was a great chance to drink some Sam Adams Oktoberfest and eat some bratwurst. On a personal note, it irks me that people celebrate Oktoberfest at this time of year. It has been over for three weeks! Anyway, I had a chance to talk and reminisce with Kathy, Pat, Cap, Bobby, and others. After we had our full, Robesch and I left for the Rugby field.

I didn't even realize that a game was being held! We walked past it toward the mass of people on the sidelines. Sadly, I payed no attention to the game at all. I turned around at one point, and the game was finished. I was to preoccupied with saying hello to lots of people. I felt pretty old for the first few hours. Most people in attendance were younger then Rob and I. Of course, it was great to continue to socialize with all the kids in Phi Kap that are younger. I spent a great deal of time talking to the kids that go in under my tutelage. In the late afternoon, old kids decided to join the party. I said high to Sam and Jessie. Even people older then me began to show up. I chatted with Houser, John, and Pete for awhile. Unfortunately, the weather started to really look bad. Rob and I ran back to the car before the rain started.

The next destination was Arena's. It has a new name, The Four Horse Man, but who calls it that? Vinny was working behind the bar, and he hooked me up with a few drinks. That was a good thing because; I had no cash and the machine was broken. Anyway, Arena's was maybe more fun then the field? Alot of people from my class and the class before me were in attendance. They even had a decent band! It was a great way to spend the early evening.

At some point, we decided to leave for Center City. I really didn't care either way, but that was the plan from the beginning. I rode down to Heather's with her and Gina. We were to met up with Mark, Jeff, Espo, Jeremy, Zach, and I think Kochan at Lucey's. It was a decent time. We danced with some girls, and closed the place. It wasn't crowded at all. I'm not sure what we expected after a 12 hour marathon day.

It was back to Manyunk for food and foosball. Appearently, they played for money, but I was too tired. I went up to sleep long before everyone went home. It was a fun fun day. I really wish I could list all the people I talked too, but it would be too many. I was so happy to see y'all, and maybe it won't be another year before I see you! At least, I hope so.
