Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is the day we all get fat. Yes, Yes. We get fat with our families, and it is so good. I hear commercials, "Keep the weight off over the holidays." That is just crap marketing. Thanksgiving is the time to eat, drink, and be merry while spending time with those who love you most. You are Thankful for what you have, and those to share it with. It has always been this way, and it always should be this way.

I woke up with some time to kill. My parents house was the destination about 1pm. I couldn't wait to eat so, I held off on any food. Ritchie did the same, and we watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I'll tell you what, some of those floats were really interesting. A few of the floats were stupid. The best part was making fun of Al Roker, Katie Couric, and Matt Lauer. I think someone in the group might have had their thumb in a inappropriate place.

I washed off Pusser's, and left my house with no time to spare. In true Simeon fashion, I was late. It didn't matter too much. The bird was still cooking. My Aunt Milly had just returned from a slamming trip that included Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany. Jealous, I was. She told us stories of her traveling group. She gave us liquor. Plus, she described many of the places she visited. The conversations brought back so many good memories.

After Dad finished carving, we sat at the table for our meal. First, we took turns saying what we were Thankful For. It was a fun excerise, but almost werid. I am so thankful for my family, but sometimes its hard to show it. The meal itself was traditional. The one dish that stood out in my mind (besides amazing turkey) was the sweet potatoes. My mom blended the sweet potatoes with orange juice, butter, and cinnamon. She than baked marshmallows on top. My goodness. It was so tasty.

During the meal, we helped celebrate my Grandmother's 82nd birthday. The sweet women is so crazy for 82. She is still doing so much in the community. She took care of me for over a year! I think she will out live at least me and my Dad. We also celebrated Jocelyn's Birthday. There are so many birthday's this time of year. I was pumped because; I was taking her out later in the evening.

After the wonderful meal, we brought out Pecan, Pumpkin, Apple, and Raspberry Pie. I only tried some Pumpkin. My dad cooked all four, and everyone really like each one. He does an amazing job with desserts. We retired to the living room for couch and TV. Football, huh? No way, Soccer. I watched a recored tape of the MLS Cup Final. D.C. United! D.C. United! D.C. United!

Eventually, I feel asleep for about an hour. I need to rest for the long night ahead. I awoke in time to have my second helping of Turkey dinner. It was nice because; I sat and talked just with my mom. She loves to talk like all Moms, and it is fun. Jocelyn and I left for Baltimore around 845pm.

What a great Turkey Day! It was our first in the Millersville house. I really enjoyed it. The food was fantastic. I loved hearing Aunt Milly's stories. Jocelyn and Gran loved all their presents. The family was truly nice and happy for the entire day! We Ate, we Drank, we were Merry, and we were Thankful for each other. It was so cool.
