How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
Yes! Today is the day we have been waiting for since October 31, 2000. By we, I mean the global group that are U2 fans. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb hits the stores TODAY. They are one of, if not, the Biggest Rock Group of my Generation. Of course, they spent the past few months promoting the new release everywhere.
I'm sure everyone has seen the iPod ads. You really can't escape these ads. The interesting part is, no money exchanged hands. The ads run on a mutual profit agreement for the new U2 iPod that is available today. This is the first marketing scheme of it's kind. The iPod is jet black with a red click wheel. The band's signatures adorn the back. Also, it comes preloaded with 446 U2 tracks including albums and rarities.
No big CD release is complete without a trip to Saturday Night Live. U2's latest performance took place this past Saturday. I was able to catch "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own." This beautiful tune sounds like vintage U2. It is one of my favorites off the new album. Unfortunatley, silly NBC did not broadcast all the songs. It looked the band was having too much fun to stop!

U2 on SNL, November 20, 2004
Over the weekend, rumblings of a Free U2 show in NYC traveled across the internet. Last time, they played an exclusive show for industry types at the Irving Plaza. It appeared the band decided to let the fans attend the second show. At first, Washington Square Park was the appearent location. The date was set for yesterday afternoon. As the day continued, reports started to be confirmed. The venue had moved to Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn. The band was to arrive on a flatbed truck. They had been driving around Manhattan performing the next single, "All Because of You." Footage was taken for the video. They performed for about an hour. What I would have given to see the show. Lucky for us all, there will be rebroadcast on MTV December 8th.

Is all the hype worth it? I say, yes, yes, and yes. I downloaded the album at the beginning of the month. It is a funny story. I have never been caught downloading music at work until this album. Now I can't anymore:( Anyway, I believe it is a throwback album. Tracks could pass for late 80s early 90s U2. I don't think Vertigo does the album any justice. These tracks include, "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own", "City Of Blinding Lights", and "Crumbs From Your Table." All and all, it is a fantastic album.
What is next for U2? A tour. Awe yea, another tour. I can't wait. I'm not sure I'll be able to top Elevation's tour opener showing in Florida, but I will get to a few shows. I have been preaching to all who will listen, go see U2. It is a magical experience not easily topped. It is even more exciting because; the album is good. It will be fun to see the new songs performed like only U2 can, Live.

Man, I've only been gone since last month, and already you're getting into trouble at work. Have Chris give you a beating. But hey, U2 is getting into barter agreements -- just like your penny-pinching employer!
Consider him beaten.
