I'll Be At McGarvey's
The days after Thanksgiving are spent in a variety of ways. Many people start to decorate and prepare for Christmas. Plenty of people go shopping. Some have to travel back home from seeing loved ones. Other's tend to do absolutely nothing. I perfer the last option. Although, I did dabble in a few of the others.
Friday afternoon, I was logged on to my computer for awhile. There wasn't much happening so, I called Denby. She had already been shopping at 8am! Crazy girl. We talked for awhile, and made plans to met at her house. It was time for some good ol' fashion Denby and Simeon time.
It was a perfect autumn day so, we went downtown to do some shopping. I got my oldest sister a present. I picked up two new CDs at Oceans II. U2 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb & Seal Best: 1991-2004 I know, Seal? The second disc is all acoustic, and it rocks. We also stopped in yuppie pet shop off Church Circle. They have everything and more for dogs and cats. You can imagine how well a store like this does in a town like Annapolis.
We had the beautiful idea to start drinking as soon as possible. Happy hour start at 2pm, yes? We needed one more thing - Invites for the Christmas Party. We had to drive over to Forest Drive for these. Along the way, we called Jason and Ritchie to inform them of our idea. We then went back downtown. I parked infront of Steven's Hardware in 15 minute parking. Score.
Denby wanted to visit McGarvey's. This idea was fine by me. The afternoon wait staff kindly setup a table for four. Denby and I sat down. We were there for Seven Hours. No Joke. Seven Hours. Ritchie showed up shortly after we arrived. I called Gina, and she stopped by with Michelle. Jason made it after dropping Kodiak off at home. We had two meals, two servers, and a lot of fun.
We planned to go home to watch a movie and come back downtown! That didn't really happen. We did go home to watch Christmas Vacation. Hands down, this is the best Christmas movie, ever. I told Ritchie we could not watch it on the big screen till after Thanksgiving. I love the Griswold Family Christmas. Of course, we went to sleep after the movie.
Saturday, I was watching the EPL in the afternoon. The only thing I accomplished all day was get food at Dunkin Donuts. I was really bored so, I called Jason. He was watching football, and he invited me over to his house. I picked up an 18 pack of Natty Light along the way. We proceeded to sit on the couch till 930pm. When football was over, we watched The Girl Next Door. Suprisingly, this movie is really entertaining. Elisha Cuthbert is really hot. Its a story of a high school boy and a porn star. Crazy.
I had full intent of going home to clean up. Kevin and Jen were coming down for the evening. The movie was so interesting, we told Kevin and Jen just to come to Denby's. Here I am in basically the same clothes as yesterday. I hadn't saved in a week. I was wearing a wrinkled button down stained shirt. According to Jason, I smelled like a keg party. I was ready to go out downtown. Yes. Where did we go? McGarvey's. One table over from the day before. Fantastic.
The general consensus was I looked homeless. I really didn't care. It was just one of those long weekends. It was really a fun night. We sat and talked about favorite Van Morrison songs and albums, the decisions that are made in the middle to late twenties, and the holidays. I wish Kevin and Jen could come to the Christmas Party, but they'll be skiing out west. Lucky. Eventually, Kevin drove us back to Denby's.
Now you understand the title of this post? If you needed me anytime last weekend, you could have found me at McGarvey's. Indeed, very sad. Well, it depends on what you think. I enjoyed my time, and it was a great weekend! Extremely Long. It was also a pleasent suprise. Everything a long weekend should be. Maybe the next Thanksgiving will be just as fun!

As a yuppie, I take offense to the name of this "pet store". As a senior accountant for Starbucks, I assure you I am no ones pet.
