Excited, I Was
About a month back, Gina twisted my arm into visiting Philadelphia for the middle of December. Lets be serious, I really don't need any arm twisting. It is really nice to do the drive with other people. The date you ask? Last weekend. I was very excited all last week to get out of Maryland to see some old friends.
We left Annapolis around 7pm. I didn't realize we had company joining us. Anna was waiting in Christina, DE for the rest of the ride. It was a really quick trip up to her. I almost like leaving this late. The traffic was non-existent. We talked about random things such as the OC, books, and plans for the new year. After grabbing Anna, we shot on up to Center City. Heather just moved into a new place off Pine. We needed to pick her up so, we stopped in to say hello. What an amazing place! It's perfect, and the best location outside Old City just north of South Street. How does this girl consistently get the best places in the Philly?
We arrived in Manyunk between 930 and 10pm. It sure didn't feel like a three hour journey. I guess chatting away with a few cool girls will make the time fly. When I got to the door of Sean's, I wasn't allowed to enter. My name was not on a long list that included Colin Powell and The Cast Of Laguna Beach. Lynch was nice enough to finally let me into the living room. I immediately spilled PBR all over the floor. Best House Guest Ever. The girls continued on to Conshohocken. We waited for High to stop by Fowler Street. We wanted to try a new place in Center City.
Luckily, Mike just purchased a sweet Nissan Murano. Myself, Lynch, Herczeg, Robesch, and Jeff piled into the car. The new place was near Rittenhouse Square. It is called the Medusa Lounge. Check out their slogan: "Welcome to Medusa Lounge, the most exclusive dive bar ever!" Sounds like God's gift to a Friday night right? It gets better, $3 PBRs all night. And better, House Music Fridays. Well, it was too good to be true. I knew the room would be small, but not that small. The DJ was playing top 40 rap from CDs, and the crowd was all sitting at tables. Eh, we decided to leave for the Irish Pub. This place was more open, and we had fun occupying a table. I wouldn't say this Irish Pub stands out from any other Irish Pub. That being said, we had a decent time. Soon, it was back to Manyunk.
I have to say thanks to Mike for being responsible and driving us home. The late night fun began. We sat around until sunrise remebering goofy stories from school. I use to try and beat up High. He would laugh at me. We had lots of dumb stories from living together. We also talked about some traveling. I hadn't been able to share some new experiences in person. He told me about his new place, and meeting Kelly. I am excited for him. I'll finally get to met her soon! It was funny to see Robesch come down the steps and see us still awake. Was it really past 9am?
After Mike went home, I tried to go into Center City. Fortunate for me, Herczeg made me go to sleep. I really really needed it after a long overnight. Is it always like this? Do I always try and pack too much into a 24 hour period on a weekend? I think it is true when I was this excited to visit Philly. I knew the weekend had all the makings of a legendary trip, and it already had high marks. Who knew what the rest of Saturday would bring for us.
