Jump With Sarah
Sarah took me out for my Birthday in Arlington. We had sandwichs, a few drinks, and a show at Iota. It was a good way to spend a Thursday evening, and I hadn't spent time over there with her in awhile.
Our sandwiches were courtsey of the Lost Dog Cafe. Its an interesting deli with a bar, but there is a three drink limit. Sarah said this keeps the place from morphing into a wateringhole. I ordered a 49'er. This sandwich is wrapped in a butter croissant with broccoli, provolone, and ham. So Tasty. Our next destination was Mexicali Blues off Wilson. The mariachi band was quite good. They complimented the margaritas well. Before stopping by Iota, we tried a dive called Galaxy Bucket. I tried a new pilsner (to me) called Eggenberg. It came in a very tall glass. It was so good.
We entered Iota around 930pm. The opener was drowning through their set. In retrospect, it was a prophecy of the next band. Jump came on and sounded horrible. I mean, Iota can sound really good, but this was just bad from note one. Everything was muddled. You couldn't distinguish sounds. I felt bad for the band because; they had a neat setup - upright bass, cello, accordion, and guitars. Oh well, we left about halfway through the set. We were both very tired, and it just sounded aweful.
I don't want to end it on a bad note. I had a great time! Thanks to Sarah for bringing me out for the evening. I guess, Jump needs to get a new sound man. I'd like to go back to Galaxy Hut on a weekend, and see if they really adhere to their posted capacity of 48 people. I bet not.
