Tool Time Party

Jason is a very lucky man. We had a Tool Time Party for him on Saturday. What is a Tool Time Party you ask??? Essentially, it is a male wedding shower. Not a bad idea huh? Normally, the bride is the only half of the wedding that enjoys these pre-parties. Why a Tool Time Party theme? Jason was able to receive many gifts from the Home Depot to increase his handyman skills.

The preparation leading to the party was half the fun. Matt and I began the day early in the morning. Megan was already prepping food while we tackled the lawn. A motor powered push mower is much easier to use then the electric one back at my Gran's. We also mulched, watered, and trimmed the place to a professional look. This wasn't the end of the prep. We had to still grab all the drinks, ice, and gifts. The dollar store is a beautiful place, but more on this later.

I went home to clean up just in time. Teresa arrived from NJ for one of the last times, and we headed back over to Matt and Megan's. The temperature was cooler then the midday, and the sky was filled with color. Early summer afternoon/evening parties have to be some of my favorites. Upon arrival, Megan showed Teresa Charlie and Mo' - Matt and Megan's new Lab and Kitty. They have to be some of the cutest and friendliest young animals ever. They are both quite playful, and decently respectful. Charlie isn't snappy or ruff. Mo is docile as can be.

As the evening continued, I was able to speak with Jason's brother - Johnny. We talked about travel. He is an engineer, and travels the world over for his job. Currently, he is in Germany. I also had a chance to speak with Mrs. Flynn. She was so kind, and I am looking forward to the Rehearsal Dinner at the Chart House.

Soon, the food was put out on the table. The Turkey sandwiches ruled. The cookies were amazing as well. Dinner was followed by a wonderful speech from Johnny. He razzled Jason by bringing up the obvious. He only has one hair cut left until the wedding. He only has two pay checks left until the wedding. He only has four weekends. He only has one month of freedom. This seemed odd to me, but he tied it up very nicely, and the opening angle was well played. He concluded by saying, this mindset is not a good way to view the situation. Jason only has to wait one more month until he is married. Marriage is a wonderful thing to be cherished, and he should be looking forward to the life changing event. Pretty cool twist huh?

Gift time followed, and Jason was showered with plenty of awesome tools. His last bag was from all the kids or kinda adults. We stuffed a bunch of random things into a feminine gift bag. Many of these were purchased at Home Depot and the dollar store. They included things like a toy pony, a unmade key, sandpaper, an inflatable towel, beef jerky, one screw, and upholstery nails. He was loving it. After each gag gift was opened. Matt took him into the shed for our real gift - a large chop saw he was dying to have. He loved the setup. He loved the gift. Awesome.

The party continued till late. We sat outside listening too tunes courtesy of Denby's Bose/iPod setup. It sounds goood. It doesn't get any better then a warm summer evening, a clear night sky, a few drinks, and good friends. I am happy Jason really liked all his presents - now go fix something!!! As Johnny put oh so well, we only have a short time left to wait. It will be an unforgettable day.
