Happy Birthday Teresa
Throughout the entire weekend, we celebrated Teresa's birthday. We did the best we could considering her recent bronchitics. The festivities began on Friday at the Thirsty Dog. Saturday we spent the entire day walking around Federal Hill and the Inner Harbor. We had great weather, and I'm glad we were able to just relax.
Our Thirsty Dog (Now Dog Pub) visit was one to remember. I consider myself a "regular" since; we are there almost every Friday. We try not to stop in other nights of the week. We keep Friday sacred. We always order Hearts of Palm salad, but the beers and pizza's are always different. Their current seasonal brew is Summer Wheat. Both Teresa and I really like the flavor. Granted, I am a huge fan of wheat beer. Lindsay was our bartender, and she took care of us well. We tried to get Teresa to have some Grand Marnier, but she had to take a rain check. Damn sickness! We ended up making a few new friends before calling it an earlier evening. All things considered, we had another great time.
Saturday was the 1st Annual Federal Hill Sidewalk Sale. Teresa and I walked down around 11am to checkout the wares. She was hoping for some sweet sales at a few of her favorite boutiques like Holly G. Unfortunately, the sale items didn't peak much of her interest. We decided to try the brunch at the newly renovated Ryleigh's. It really is beautiful. The brunch menu wasn't too exciting so, we decided to have a few drinks. The Bloody Marys are so hearty, they could be considered a meal! We watched Sundance Channel's coverage of Live Earth. It was really crazy to see the performance of "How Many People" from Antarctica by Nunatak.
We wondered back onto the streets of Federal Hill and decided to walk toward the Harbor. We stopped and got some Mexican cinnamon sticks called Churros. We dipped them in chocolate. It was an awesome addition to breakfast. We wandered through the harbor, and we wanted to checkout Fells. Unfortunately, it was already 4pm. We made the decision to walk home and get ready for dinner.
After cleaning up and slightly dressing up, we walked down to Metropolitan for dinner. They have some of the best food in the neighborhood. Plus, they have the best beer selection. I ordered a Pinkus Hefeweizen - certified organic beer. For an appetizer, we shared crab stuffed mushrooms and spinach salad. Both are out of this world. For dinner, Teresa ate salmon encrusted salmon. I had Blackened Steak Pasta which was fantastic. We shard a large piece of Apple Pie and ice cream for dessert. The shell was cake like, and each bite melted in your mouth. By the time we walked home, I was about to burst.
It was a few exceptional days! I really enjoyed stopping the hectic pass of daily like to enjoy Teresa's birthday. I know she had as much if not more fun than I. The weather couldn't have been more cooperative. We really lucked out with the sidewalk sale. As always, neither the Thirsty Dog or Metropolitan disappoint. But wait, the festivities are not over. We are going to beach this upcoming weekend!
