Looking For Pizza

I really like pizza.  That is a generic statement, but it is so good.  Teresa makes amazing pizza.  I too can now make a fair pizza.  Sometimes, I'd rather go out for pizza.  In the new neighborhood, there is a pizza place called Hot Lips.  It is expensive, but the pizza is quality.  It is also not a bar.  Pubs that specialize in pizza make me very happy.  This was the main reason I loved the Thirsty Dog in Federal Hill.  Last night, we tried to find a decent pizza pub.

We started out in Alberta.  Most of the pizza places were mainly eat-in restaurants with a carry away option.  Teresa remembered a place in what she thought was Mississippi so, we jumped on the bus.  Halfway through the ride, she remembered the place was in the Northwest.  Oh well, we decided to stick with Mississippi.  I was ravenous, and we didn't want to figure out a new bus route.

Mississippi is only a few neighborhoods over so, the bus ride can be quite quick. There are a number of options up and down the avenue.  We decided to try Por Que No, but it was packed.  It is always packed.  I don't know how we will ever eat there.  It is suppose to have some of the best Mexican in Portland.  Just up the street is the Mississippi Pizza Pub.  Jackpot.

This pub has live music every night of the week.  You can hear the music from the street.  As you enter the establishment, you are greeted by a standard pizza diner.  You can order slices or full pies.  They had a few local brews and favorites on tap.  We got a number of slices including Vegan, Portland and Hawaiian.  We grabbed a pitched of Fat Tire and checked out the music dining room.  I guess, we were early.  It was filled with mostly families with children.  The band on stage, Voodoo BBQ, was talented.  The atmosphere was different with all the families.  The children were shrieking and the Moms might of had a few.  One of the songs was about school lunch.  Fortunately, the pizza was very tasty, Fat Tire never disappoints and our booth was cozy. We decided to stick out the circus.   I ran back to the other room to order some cheesy bread sticks.  The other bands were less than amazing.  One guy that played solo was OK.  The last band we listened too had a good sound, but the girl singer was always hitting flat notes.  The cheesy bread sticks tasted great.

Before long, we ran out to catch the bus home.  I'd say, we found really good pizza.  The good pizza is complimented by good beer.  I hope we can go back when there is better music.  It was a successful evening.
