One of our favorite meals is pizza. Teresa and I make pizza about once a week. We buy already made dough from Trader Joe's or New Seasons. The rest of the ingredients are fresh. Typical toppings include peppers, onions, basil, spinach, olives, pizza sauce, formaggio cheese, chicken sausage and more. We load them up for extra goodness. Every once and awhile, we venture from this recipe. This week, we attempted Bar-B-Que chicken pizza. The adventure began at New Seasons. We needed to choose a BBQ sauce. New Seasons is like Whole Foods, so they have a million choices. They blend local products with national brands. Most everything is organic. One BBQ sauce stuck out from the rest, Ooga Booga. We couldn't resist. We must have looked so strange repeating "Ooga Booga" to each other in the store isle and laughing! After pulling it together, we decided upon the N'Between flavor. The sauce is manufactured locally by Ooga Booga BBQ & Sauce Company. The side of the bottle reads, "The words Ooga Booga are used as a friendly greeting among my friends. Those words always put a smile on our faces. So I named this sauce after that, hoping it will bring a smile to your face too. Once you've tried it, I think you'll smile happy. Thanks for trying my sauce. 'Ooga Booga to ya!!' --Barry Kepner". We couldn't wait to try it, and I was already smiling.
The other ingredients for this pizza were chicken, peppers, mushrooms and Gouda cheese. Instead of pizza sauce, we slapped down a layer of Ooga Booga. I couldn't wait to get the pie out of the oven and onto my plate! When I did, I was satisfied. This Ooga Booga is so goooood. Its the perfect mix of smoky without too much sweet. I am hooked. Plus, its so much fun to say! Ooga Booga to you!
